Rekindling the Spiritual Fire Within (2 Timothy 1:1-18)

Sometimes, we all go through times of struggle and discouragement. When young Timothy pastored the church at Ephesus, he went through a time of struggle and discouragement. He suffered from health problems (1 Timothy 5:23) and also encountered difficulties and opposition. In fact, some false teachers gave him a hard time. It seemed they were determined to wear him down.

These struggles really affected Timothy even to the point where his spiritual fervor was beginning to wane. But the apostle Paul was not willing to give up on him. This young man whom Paul led to the Lord, this young man who worked alongside of him, he was not willing to give up on him. So, Paul wrote to Timothy and encouraged him to rekindle the spiritual fire within.

You know we all need to rekindle the spiritual fire within. When people become Christians, they usually serve God with great fervor and passion; and they follow God at any cost. However, as time passes, the fire within begins to wane, the spiritual fire begins to waver. And before long our passion for God is seriously affected. However, we can overcome this problem by rekindling the spiritual fire within. Don’t let your passion for God die. Don’t let your fervor for God diminish. Rekindle the spiritual fire within (2 Timothy 1:1-18).
